End of Tenancy Cleaning and Your Deposit

Move-out disputes usually come down to a handful of the same areas rather than the general look of the property. If you work through those in order, the rest of the clean is straightforward.
The areas that get looked at first
Inspections tend to follow the same path, and appliances are almost always opened.
- Inside the oven, grill pan, racks and door glass
- Fridge and freezer, defrosted and wiped, including seals
- Bathroom scale, grout and sealant
- Carpets, particularly doorways, stairs and under furniture
- Windows inside, plus sills and tracks
- Skirtings, door frames, switches and radiators
Work top-down and leave floors last
Dust and residue fall. Cleaning floors before high surfaces means doing them twice, which is the most common reason a move-out clean overruns.
Clear the property fully first if you can. Cleaning around remaining belongings almost always leaves visible edges where items were standing.
Keep evidence
Photograph each room once it is finished, and keep any receipt or invoice for professional cleaning. If a deduction is later proposed, dated photographs and paperwork are far more useful than a description of how much effort you put in.
How we price move-out cleans
We quote end-of-tenancy work as a fixed price after we know the property size, its current condition and whether carpets and appliances are included. Our starting point is from £149, and we confirm the itemised total in writing before booking so there is no hourly creep on the day.
